 | Songs in the Key of BLAM! |
A long-discussed project that actually precedes Globecord [Nothing can precede or succeed GC. GC is eternal.-ed.] is finally getting underway--and you can help! [Not "you" the general public, though that would certainly speed things along--we can't let you post comments until the changeover to GC Mark III takes place.] See inside for details.
It's been the long-held dream of certain members of GC to create a mix album consisting solely of pop songs that contain gunfire. This dream is so long-held that it's hard to remember exactly why this would be a desirable thing to create, but nevertheless, the project has far too much momentum to be stopped at this late date.
The List
I'm putting a star next to entries where the gunshots are simulated musically, which is preferred, obviously. From memory, here's what I can come up with:
*The Warrior--Scandal
The Man Who Shot Liberty Vallance--Gene Pitney
*I Fought The Law--Bobby Fuller Four
*Werewolf--Five Man Electrical Band
Indiana Wants Me--R. Dean Taylor
---
For Those About To Rock--AC/DC
*Bye Bye Mon Cowboy--Mitsou
Fiesta--The Pogues
Dallas 1pm--Saxon
Wild Wild West--Escape Club
Draft Morning --The Byrds
Not much at present, but I'm sure the comments section will be full-to-brimming with more in no time. There's an AC/DC one, isn't there?

I also believe you can add Mitsou's Bye Bye Mon Cowboy which starts with a musically simulated gunshot. I'll continute to look through my massive mp3 collection... |

Now, this definitely calls for a ruling--what about laser gun sounds, as heard in Sarah Brightman's 1979 hit, I Lost My Heart to a Starship Trooper? |

I also added that Pogues song which indeed features a starter's pistol early on. After some consideration, I'm against remixes--I can think of several songs I'd personally like to add gunshots to and put on the list, so where does one draw the line? |
