 | Book Reviews: The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo (2005)- Stieg Larsson |
At 841 pages I started to panic Tuesday but have no fear. I finished a day early.
This is part one of a three book series that was originally written entirely in Swedish. Like J.K. Rowling, the author was a complete unknown until his books catapulted to sales reaching 25 million globally. Unfortunately, Stieg Larsson died just before his books gained notoriety and it turns out, his life is as interesting a saga as his books.
I had read a lot of media about this author so I approached this book with intrigue, scepticism and intimidation…. I only had one week to read it. The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo is a murder mystery and turned out to be a lot of fun to read. It’s no The Usual Suspects, but compelling and fast paced enough to overlook the length. It’s pure entertainment, doesn’t pretend to be more than it is and I have to say I really have no criticism for it except for perhaps small inconsistencies with some characters.
Enjoy!

And about books, no less, a subject close to my heart. I might've had a Borrowed Book Review if I could have gotten through The Historian, by Elizabeth Kostrova, but no such luck, though allisonpayne couldn't finish it either. |
